Trinidad, California. This is a beach just north of Trinidad Bay. It’s the closest thing to the Oregon coast as we have in Northern California. It reminds me a lot of Bandon….only it seems the waves are bigger. On this night of photography I learned firsthand the power of the ocean. I had been standing in calf deep water for all of my time out shooting and turned to look at my camera. The next thing I knew I was in waist deep water grasping for rocks, so I didn’t get knocked over and taken to sea. I was lucky that I had positioned myself close to a rock, and was able to stabilize myself…although I did lose a $100 filter making this shot. This just cements the fact that the ocean is by far my most challenging environment…but also one that offers the most rewards.
