Lightning

Lightning

Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Whiskeytown is my home turf. Out of all the lakes in this area…this is one of my favorites, and due to its proximity to my house, I can watch the weather and be there within 15 minutes to photograph anything that looks promising. This particular shot was just as a huge storm cell was passing over the lake. Photographing lightning was a challenge I’d been trying to do well for a long while, so I set over the a week of storms to capture some images of my favorite lake with some lightning crashing in the distance. While making this shot I could watch the rain flurry start to fall across the lake as the storm cam closer. Within minutes of this image, I was hightailing it back to my car just before the rains began to pour.
