Narnia

Narnia

Burney Falls SP, California. This was one of the most difficult photos I’ve ever made. You won’t see a lot of images like this either. I’ve seen a lot of photos from this park, but never any after a huge snow storm. My goal was to capture that. There is a reason that it’s not a common image. It’s tough. This waterfall is notoriously misty. It spills into a bowl, and the mist churns around and gets on gear, making photography tough. For this shot the outside temps were in the low teens, and that mist was freezing to everything making it nearly impossible. To get out in the creek where I took this shot required a lot of work as well…a huge ball of snow fell off a tree and on my neck and camera gear. To make a cold, miserable story short. I had 2 shots to get this right before my gear and hands were useless. I’m so glad I got it right.
