Yosemite National Park. Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall located near El Capitan. During certain times of the year as the sun sets, the light catches the falls and makes them glow with an orange glow as if they’re made of lava. Well, I missed that certain time by a few days. Rather than lose an opportunity to photograph a beautiful location, I thought about the images I’d seen of this place, and went for a slightly different approach. I used a longer exposure to blur the clouds, and give the image some overall balance. I also processed it as a monochromatic image, which is untypical of this location. This shot was was taken from a location we visit on our winter Yosemite workshop at the Aperture Academy.
