Brilliant Mount Bachelor

Oregon has every type of landscape possibility I can think of. Some of my favorites are the rugged mountains around the town of Bend. Mount Bachelor is a popular recreation stop for winter and outdoor enthusiasts of all sports. On this evening thunderstorms rolled in over the area causing dramatic light around the mountain. This More »

Vik Vibrance

Vik is a coastal town along Iceland’s main “ring” road. The area has beautiful rock formations, black sand beaches, and large fields of lupine in the early summer. It’s a great place to photograph. I spent the first 2 days here in the rain and wind. Then on the last night, I had a brief More »

The Fire Within

The námaskarð area of Iceland is other worldly. Steam vents, mud pools of boiling liquid, barren volcanic landscapes. It feels like you’ew only moments away from being swept up in a volcanic explosion. If you can stomach the smell of sulpher, and the feeling of impending doom the area is alsoo fantastic for landscape photography. More »

Skaftafell Reflections

Skaftafell National Park is a great location for landscape photography. Glaciers, Waterfalls, mountains, rivers, wildlife, etc. I found this spot about 3am after hiking 15 miles around the mountains. Funny, this location was actually only about 3/4 a mile from my tent. I really liked the plantlife that grew along this little pond…and the reflection More »

Beautiful Precipice

Goðafoss is one of the best waterfalls in Iceland, in my opinion. I walked extremely close to the edge in order to provide a subtle, different view of this magnificent cascade. This area was often visited en masse by tourists during the day, but in the evening was an isolated, almost creepy place.

Infinite Horizons

Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon is one of my favorite spots to photograph maybe ever. It changes from day to day, and it really is a location that makes you feel like you’re in Iceland. I could spend days here and never tire of photographing. I even secretly snuck my tent into the area to spend the More »

Reflections of Gold

Kirkjufell is one of my favorite mountains in Iceland. I love the amount of water that surrounds it, and the seemingly endless possibility for great images of this place. While I didn’t get the sky I wanted at this location, I really loved the reflection, and simplicity of the scene. I used to different exposures More »

Left Behind

The beach near Jokulsarlon is a graveyard of ice and wandering the shores provides numerous fleeting moments for creating interesting images. This particular evening had spectacular colors in the sky, and I spent over two hours wandering the area making photos.

Green, Blue, and Goðafoss

Goðafoss is one of the prettiest waterfalls in Iceland. I waited for rain all day for the one break I had to get out and shoot here. While my mind was hoping for a glorious sunset full of clouds and color…it wasn’t to be. I took advantage of the moody grey skies, and stormy weather More »
